Community Outreach Programs

Changing Worlds, in collaboration with community partners, delivers engaging arts-based programs that explore culture, foster community and challenge participants to identify the lens through which they view the world. An integral component of programming is oral history. Changing Worlds embraces the power of story, and with the community, provides a space to question, discover, connect and share.

Short-Term and Multi-Session Programs

Changing Worlds culture and arts-based workshops and performances provide a hands-on experience for participants of all ages. More

Oral History Traveling Exhibits

Through the stories of immigrants and refugee families, the exhibits give voice and a face to those often seen and heard through the filters of stereotype and prejudice. Two traveling oral history exhibits are available for rental by schools, libraries, corporations, places of worship and community organizations. Coupled with hands-on activities, the exhibits offer a very personal introduction to diverse cultures and challenge the myths and stereotypes that plague our city and country at large. More

The Newcomer Mural Traveling Exhibit

Photographs, poetry, self-portraits, paintings and collage are vividly combined creating an in-depth look into the emotional progress of eight teens as they leave their native countries to develop a new life in the United States. This beautiful mural was made by high school students from the Newcomer Center at Taft High School in Chicago. The exhibit and supplementary programs encourage participants to learn about other cultures, explore their own backgrounds and discover our many human connections. More
